Project Lucy
Is an ongoing fursuit project, developed by Xasin, Neira and Mesh. The suit is of a Synth character, with a focus on flexible and dynamic lighting and lively interactivity, to hopefully soon give back to a community so lively and wonderful on its own.

in a few places. Firstly, this page has RSS/Atom feeds - yeah, that tech still lives <3

The core idea
of the Synth is that of representation. Being a system means no one single suit would quite be appropriate, but something that can come close is one that represents the flexibility and variability itself.
With a Synth based fursuit whose colour markings are held to a monochrome grey, and which are then supplemented with vibrant and dynamic LED lighting, it becomes much more feasible to express these feelings.
The suit will also have the chance to play and interact with the surroundings in lively ways. A lot of the technology that will be developed for it is that of interaction and expression - things such as sensors across the suit to detect motion.
The tech of it
is still a small dream, but very feasible, and is being worked on actively.
The whole idea involves a small Ethernet bus - yes, that Ethernet - combined with smart, cheap little sub-controllers across the suit, each one coordinated by a central processor.
This will allow for beautifully coordinated lighting effects across the whole suit, but also so much more!
Some of the ideas of the suit other than LED lighting include:
- Persistence-of-vision LED writing segments
- ASCII-Art based eyes
- Speakers on each joint of the wearer of the suit, to allow for playback of fake motor sounds as the wearer moves.
- Full-Body pose tracking utilizing similar technology to SlimeVR to help coordinate lighting systems.
There is a lot of ideas that have been piling up for the last few years, and we are finally in a spot to start working on them, so follow this page with its RSS/Atom feed to keep up to date!
