  • 3D Printer - Remaginator (VT.1788)

The Remaginator - a funky name, yes I know, is a gorgeous little 3D printing machine that we built in October 2024. It's a Voron, so it's quite a handful, but it means we can modify and upgrade it a lot over the coming years <3

This page is here to just describe it a little and let people enjoy the view.

    The Specs

Here's a little rundown of the 3D printer specifications, for those interested:

    • Type: Voron Trident, LDO Kit Rev.D
    • Build Volume: 300mm³ (a big one!! Perfect for fursuit parts :>)
    • Speed: Not really maxed out yet, but she go fast, at like 300mm/s and accellerations in the 8kmm/s²
    • Extruder: Revo hotend, 0.4mm and 0.6mm high-flow nozzles. If you don't know them, check them out - they have the coolest little hotswap option!!
    • Hotbed: Spring-Steel magnetic ((how did we survive without it before?!)), with 240V Silicone heater that can get toasty. The built-in temperature fuse still makes us feel safe :>
    • Controller board: LDO "Leviathan" (one of the coolest boards ever <.<), with a Raspberry Pi 4.
    • Firmware: Mainline Klipper. Should eventually switch it to Danger-Klipper for some of the fun features...
    • Web-Interface: Fluidd. Absolutely fantastic, and with tons of features that make a lot of other machines blush.
    • Mods:
      • A Nevermore Mini with Active Charcoal. Eventually we should add a HEPA filter exhaust...
      • Klicky probe!! Some say it's annoying, we have amazing results with it so far. It also just looks really fun
      • Not done yet, but we have a BoxTurtle AMS to build, which is for filament swapping

What do we print with it?

So far? Not much, it's a pretty new machine. Ultimately, though, she'll be used to 3D print PETG and hard-shore TPU based fursuit parts! You can find a few more details on this page about our Fursuit plans.

But there's always gonna be fun other projects, so ... We'll see.

TODO here: add a little tag-based search section to show 3D printed projects?

    Our build experience

Building a Voron is ... One hell of an endeavour. You don't get anything ready-made, it's all single-parts. But... After all is said and done, you know this machine by heart. It is a mirror of your skill, and passion - and it can be the best printer you ever had, if you can build it. Not to mention that you get to learn so much about these things - it was 100% worth it.

We decided to get a LDO Kit, which is a near-complete package for all the parts. This includes pre-cut acrylic side-panels and, most-importantly, aluminium profile bars. All in all, the LDO Kit had a very high build quality, all parts were clean and neatly prepared, well-packaged, etc., so we can highly recommend it!!

Aside from that we used the Voron "Print-It-Forward" service to get the essential 3D printed parts. Parts were printed by Stefan, apparently one of the top printer people. There were one or two mistakes in the shipping at first, but everything was cleared up no problem after that, and the print quality of these components was top tier, so - yeah, can recommend! The PIF, for those not in the know, is a community-vetted and -run service to get Voron parts at a regulated, guaranteed quality.

From there? It was a lot. A lot of building. The whole thing is akin to a giant adult LEGO, just that you're using screws and metal profiles rather than blocks. The Voron documentation, however, is incredibly well made, with clean visuals that show what goes where. If you've built some things before, and have a grasp on how the printer is supposed to look/work, you should have little problem here. However... Damn does it need time. And floor space. A LOT of floor space.

Oh, and the wiring on these things? Absolutely gggoorrggeeouusss - the LDO Kit comes with a full wiring harness, which is just... Delectable.

A picture of the Wiring bay of the 3D printer - tasty <3

Anyhow - a month later (don't worry, the actual build was just a week or two, but there was a holiday and shipping issues with DHL that took a LOT of time <.<) and... the printer was ready! She sings damn fine, too.

And that's that! Printer has been whirring along incredibly well, and it was 100% worth it. Over time, we'll make a little collection of all the gorgeous things we do with this printer - look forward to it! <3
